3 — OI’s Retirement

It’s with much emotion that I wish Ol a great retirement. After 23 years of loyal service to this organization, it is a very well-deserved retirement. Eleven years ago, when I joined this organization, Ol helped me understand the complexity of our industry and the particularities of the leaders of the time. I must admit that with his advice and warnings, Ol saved me from making many naïve mistakes. I wouldn’t have survived long here, in those years, had it not been for his insights. You owe it to him that you now have the privilege of having me as your president!

Ol is a hard worker. He always goes above and beyond for the organization; he’s always there for his colleagues. Ol is an outspoken visionary who never hesitates to share his opinions, even when they may disturb some of us. With all that said, Ol leaves behind many great contributions to our organization. With the great responsibilities that I have, I consider myself lucky to have been able to count on Ol’s critical advice before making decisions for this organization.

On the personal side, Ol is a good friend too. In difficult times, he could be relied on to help his colleagues. He inspired us. Indeed, he is a model for us all!

Let’s raise our glasses and wish Ol all the happiness he deserves in this new stage of his life!

Cheers!

Mi

Ré’s speech clashes with his constant complaints about Ol at our management meetings!

Bo

This is a celebration for Ol’s retirement — he needs to pay him homage.

Mi

Yes, but this is a bit much when we all know he was pressuring Ol to leave.

Bo

It is important for Ol to leave proud, to feel that his contributions are recognized.

Mi

We all know that he was an irritant to Ré. Who will believe this insincere speech?

Bo

It’s not important. We just need to play along. Tomorrow, it will all be forgotten.

Mi

I don’t think Ol will forget ...

Bo

Maybe not, but we will think that it all ended well, and we won’t worry about it.
